As we enter the final stretch in the lead up to the long anticipated new Xinobi album ‘Balsame’, It is with total delight that today he announces yet another single taken from it, and another of the central and most important voices contained on the record, and again it’s a female one, that of Turkish artist Alem-i Adastra, adding weight and a truly otherworldly feel to Başa Bela, a standout track that provides the final indication of just how much of a definitive statement this exceptional record really is.

‘Balsame’ is the follow up to ‘On The Quiet’. On April the 8th 2022 the wait will be over and with it a new chapter will begin for Xinobi. ‘Balsame’ is an expansive labour of love featuring a host of guest collaborators crossing both musical and geographical boundaries.

Coming off the back of an immensely productive year in 2021 and relentless start to 2022, that included Xinobi revisiting ‘On the Quiet’ by re-releasing it as an expanded version, as well as seeing him re-collaborating with Gisela João, their first joint outing since their much-lauded crossover single ‘Fado Para Esta Noite’ and adding to his remix roster with remixes for other eclectic artists such as Luca Musto, Omri Guetta & Omer Tayar. He also found time to release lots of his own new music with an EP, ‘Morangos’, on Frau Blau and topped last year off with single ‘Helium’. He was prolific to say the least.

Since then, he has been at our new Discotexas headquarters in Lisbon, applying the finishing touches to the album, of which he has already released three singles to much acclaim only adding to the anticipation for the album. Previous singles, ‘La Tormenta’, featured wildly exciting new artist Meta_, ‘Amor Cego’ featuring the enchanting vocal stamp of Margarida Encarnação, followed by ‘Phénix’ featuring mysterious up and comer Arâm - All female voices, which echo and are ever present throughout Xinobi’s new record. The final female voice entering the fray is that of Alem-i Adastra, moniker of Aslı Köse who after completion of her middle and higher education in Cello, developed in to an Electronic Music artist to watch. A composer and producer equally at home on stage or in the studio, she launched a new project in 2017 under the name: Alem-i Adastra. Based on dramatic themes, she aims for musical integrity composed of melodic transitions. Willing to take the audience on a journey among the stars, she mixes electronic and acoustic voices together with musicians from different aesthetic perceptions on stage as her main arsenal. On ‘Başa Bela’ she provides a real star turn, and the result is simply stunning.

All of the above tracks belong together, interweaving and complementing each other, making ‘Balsame’ feel like such a complete record, one that can be consumed whole or in its individual parts, hitting home at every turn and providing moments both to relate to, and dance to. Hypnotically beautiful, with ‘Balsame’ Xinobi will look to build on his incredible current momentum, channeling some of his best ever work in the process. The wait is almost over.
